MINUTES OF SPORT COMMITTEE January 19, 2006 - 6:00pm
CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES „Ï Marty opened the meeting at 6:00pm in the Schmidt Room at Town Hall. „Ï Minutes of previous (November) meeting (December meeting cancelled) approved as written and seconded.
I: ATTENDANCE Howard Hallman, Don Hansen, Michael Johnson, Dave Koop, Nathan Mosley, Eric Nicholds, Mary Kay Rachwalski, Marty Richardson, Stinky Steinbrink, John Taylor, Pat Taylor
Absent: Andrew Yarosh, Tom Dopplick, Tammy Jamieson Guests: Rick & Laura Karden, Danelle Ballengee
II: OLD BUSINESS 1. Art Donation Other: III. NEW BUSINESS 1. Danelle Ballengee ¡V Swift Skeddadle, and Summit Triathlon - ADDITION to Agenda. -Danelle thanked everyone who has volunteered for her over the past years. She is asking if the SPORT Committee or the Town of Silverthorne, or a combo of both, would be willing to take over these races. She is willing to consult, but feels it¡¦s time to step back. -Danelle will come up with timeline, budget/costs so that the Committee can review. If you have suggestions or comments contact Danelle at Danelle@colorado.net 2. Art Donation Policy -MaryKay will send vail guidelines to Liz and present at next meeting. 3. SPORT Elections -Nominations: MaryKay for Chair; Don Hansen ViceChair. MaryKay has is willing to accept with a little ¡§coaching¡¨ from Marty and Tammy. -SPORT Committee member vacancies will be advertised in the Summit Daily in February, and any letters of intent should be directed to Tammy. 4. Friends of Open Space Party - Silverthorne Pavilion, February 3rd at 5:30. Eric Nicholds and MaryKay are planning to attend. IV: PROJECT REPORT 1. Blue River Experience -Tammy sent attachment. 2. Adopt-A-Trail -No report 3. Other: Rick & Laura Karden asked about Disc Golf. -contacted homeowners along possible course area and received positive feedback, one agreed to have ¡§basket¡¨ on their property. There was positive feedback from SPORT Committee members regarding getting the disc golf to go forward. They also asked about possibilities of a water park and rafting? These are on back burner due to water issues. V: OTHER & SEASONAL REPORTS 1. Ponds/Ice Rink ¡V Will not open this year due to heavy snowfall. 2. Skate Park 3. Rainbow Park Master Plan Review - on hold . 4. Nordic Center ¡V GREAT season so far. Some issues with foot traffic on North end, signs are up, hopefully it will cease. 5. Pocket Park 6. Doggie Park -There are signs in tact re: leash law. 7. Sand Volleyball Courts 8. Other Meeting Adjourned: 7:16pm
