MINUTES OF SPORT COMMITTEE April 20, 2006 - 6:00pm
CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES „Ï Marty opened the meeting at 6:00pm in the Schmidt Room at Town Hall. „Ï Minutes of previous meeting approved as written and seconded.

II: OLD BUSINESS 1. Art Donation Policy ƒx Koop said it would be nice to have a policy in place, but not to form a ¡§board, or committee.¡¨ ƒx Laura suggested maybe having a member of the community, who has art experience, ¡§on call¡¨ as an advisor. Next step: revise current policy to reflect Town of Silverthorne and review. 2. Angler Mountain Ranch ƒx Sketch plan has been received and proceeding through review process. III. NEW BUSINESS 1. Big Horn Pump Station - Zach Margolis, Utility Manager, Town of Silverthorne. ƒx Zach had handout/map available to Committee members. ƒx The pump station location is such that the bike path in front of Big Horn Lumber will need to be offset 8¡¦. Construction is behind schedule, but will begin in July and all vegetation will be relocated. 2. The Committee officially welcomed Matt, Rick and Laura. ƒx Tammy will meet to ¡§orient¡¨ them to SPORT and to give them a brief background/history of what¡¦ been happening. OTHER: Nathan suggested setting up property tours to familiarize members who have not seen all property involved in the trail & open space acquisitions, including; 1. Cottonwood 2. Grand/Brown/Gordon (Open space properties) 3. Angler Mountain Ranch 4. South Maryland Creek Nathan will coordinate times/dates and contact members. IV: PROJECT REPORT 1. Blue River Experience a. Property Negotiations Grande Property ƒx Closed on Lot 39 on Tuesday, April 18th. ƒx 11 acre conservation easement amended to our use. Met with Lea Girvin of CDLT, will go to GOCO for approval. ƒx Environmental Assessment ¡V Clean ƒx Open Space funding request to County - $500,000 and $100,000 Grande/Brown. ƒx Verbal IGA with the County to have as open space always. Brown Property ƒx Closing on 1298 Blue River Parkway/Ruby Joint Venture (Sam Brown) property on May 17. ƒx Total of 14 acres with river access, open space Gordon Property ƒx Boot has the appraisal and is reviewing it Blue River Valley Ranch Lake Estates -The HOA has asked for an update, Tammy will attend their meeting on the 20th of May. b. North Pond Park Construction/Signage ƒx 1st part of May Tammy will meet with House of Signs to discuss gateway and informational/rule signs. ƒx There was discussion from the group on whether to have universal symbols, Matt suggested ¡§seasonal¡¨ signs that can be changed easily. This suggestion, as well as the Gateway signs, was well received by the Committee. c. Wetlands & Land Survey BRVRLE 2. Adopt-A-Trail ƒx Don and Mary Kay rode the path¡Ksome trash, but basically very clean! Kudos to whoever has been cleaning it up! ƒx It¡¦s time to begin renewal process and will send letters to current ¡§owners.¡¨ ƒx Rock Gym will not renew contract, however, Keystone Symposia has expressed interest. ƒx Clean up day is May 20th, maybe we can direct folks in that direction, 3. Other: V: OTHER & SEASONAL REPORTS 1. Ponds/Ice Rink 2. Skate Park -Open and getting lots of use 3. Rainbow Park Master Plan Review -Master Plan needs to be finished. -Is there $ from South Maryland Creek Ranch available. -Do we need to start open house process/planning. What will go in open area? What are needs of community? -Do we form a subcommittee to help with a ¡§10 year¡¨ update on the MP? -2007 Goal possibly to put something there that will be used! 4. Nordic Center 5. Pocket Park 6. Doggie Park 7. Cottonwood Park Fishing Signs 8. Sand Volleyball Courts 9. Other: -Have we heard from Danelle re: Swift Skedaddle? Mary Kay will contact her. -Ground breaking for North Park Pond Construction? In May after land purchases are complete. -Qwest building aesthetics? Matt asked what was the possibility of cleaning up the area around the building? Private property, not a lot we can do.
COMMENTS: Regarding Rainbow Park open area¡K Mayor Koop suggested to ¡§close things out.¡¨ Start to put names on some of the projects that we¡¦ve done and have planned. We have many projects that are so close to finishing; we just have to find the ¡§best use of land.¡¨ Meeting Adjourned: 7:48pm
