MINUTES OF SPORT COMMITTEE January 17, 2008
CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
„Ï Mary Kay opened the meeting at 6:02pm in the Schmidt Room at Town Hall. „Ï December 20th minutes motion to approve, with correction of date, by Nathan and seconded by John.
I: ATTENDANCE Mary Devlin, Tammy Jamieson, Laura Karden, Nathan Mosley, Mary Kay Rachwalski, Marty Richardson, Steve Swanson, John Taylor, Pat Taylor.

II: OLD BUSINESS 1. Art in Public Places: Summit County Website down, information planned for next meeting. 2. Countywide Field Assessment: Committee met December 14th to review draft. Draft states that Summit County is currently meeting the needs of the community. Four fields are rated as ¡§poor¡¨ and are for playground use only. There is a thought to identify possible locations to ¡§move¡¨ the Blue River ballfields, but need 40-80 acres to do so. Possible central field registration proposed with same cost being billed per field. The draft will be presented to Managers on January 24th. 3. Swift Skedaddle Wrap up: 80 racers and 30 volunteers¡KTHANK YOU ALL! Race went smoothly with perfect weather. John thought there were a lot of ¡§special touches.¡¨ Joanne passed along her ¡§THANK YOU!¡¨ to all volunteers. It was mentioned that we should promote/advertise more in the Denver area such as; REI, articles in ¡§Outdoor¡¨ columns, Boulder Nordic and also with Steve Lipsher, by inviting him to participate in the race. The Swift Skedaddle will need at least 100 participants to break even. 4. SPORT Appointment Schedule: Stinky and Laura are resigning which now leaves 4 openings. Nathan has stepped into a 2-year term and Tom and Pat have expressed interest to continue on the Committee. This will be a consent item on the next Council agenda.

IV: PROJECT REPORT UPDATE: Project Name: Mary Devlin updated the committee on the following: 1. Angler Mountain Ranch: Planning Commission ¡V 1/15/08 review Site Plan Modification: Units w/ground floor/master bedroom. TC will review in January. 2. Blue River Crossing: Still active but no update. 3. Ponds Wetland Mitigation: Last contact to US Army Corp, Michael left voicemail week of December 24th to no avail. 4. Rainbow Run: No Update 5. Silver Trout: No update 6. South Maryland: Planning Commission ¡V 1/15/08 review. Sketch Subdivision, (referral comments due 1/8/08)
OTHER: Community open house to get feedback on the changes to the commercial districts, at the Pavilion on Jan. 31st from 2-4pm and also 6-8pm. V: PARKS, TRAILS & OPEN SPACE PROJECTS ¡V REPORTS & UPDATE 1. Blue River Experience: Trail Construction and design of bald Eagle to Legend Lake Cr. Proposed unveiling in February, the 1st RFB will be late March/early April, then construction in June at a cost of 500-600,000.00. 2. Disc Golf Course: Leadership Council has asked for 30 minutes in front of Council, date undecided. 3. Dog Park: No Report
VI. SEASONAL PARKS & FACILITIES OPERATIONS REPORTS 1. Ponds/Ice Rink: Open ¡V Silverthorne Elementary is holding their Winterfest on the 25th of January. 2. Skate Park: Closed 3. Rainbow Park: No report 4. Nordic Center: Open and going well! 5 Cottonwood Park Area Fishing Signs: No Report 6 Sand Volleyball Courts: Closed 7 Blue River Pocket Park: No Report 8 Adopt a Trail Program: No Report VII. 2007 Goals ¡V Status
1. GOCO Large Scale Grant a. Complete Final Reports for GOCO Large Scale Grant / Completed 8/7/07 2. Blue River Trail a. Pursue rights-of-way for Blue River Trail and other trail routes b. Continue to collaborate with BRVRLE HOA on negotiating possible easement acquisition c. Complete Final Design / Construction Drawing for Blue River Trail d. Apply for 404 Permit for Blue River Trail e. Build Segment 2, (Hamilton Creek to Bald Eagle Rd,) of the Blue River Trail 3. Replace two Park / Recreation Facility signs 4. Add the ¡§park¡¨ component to the Adopt-A-Trail Program / Completed July 2007 5. Submit Final Draft of the ¡§Art in Public Places¡¨ Program to Town Council / Approved 7/27/07 6. Mini-Projects a. Integrate pocket park with the pedestrian bridge b. Improve park area along the Blue River north of the Silverthorne Pavilion
