MINUTES OF SPORT COMMITTEE May 21, 2009
CALL TO ORDER/APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES „Ï Don opened the meeting at 6:02 p.m. in the Schmidt Room at Town Hall. „Ï Previous Minutes: motion to approve from John, seconded by Mary Kay. I: ATTENDANCE Joanne Breigenzer, Bruce Butler, Tom Dopplick, Don Hansen, Frank Gutmann, Michael Johnson, Mary Kay Rachwalski, John Taylor, Pat Taylor
Absent: Nathan Mosley Guests: Bill Linfield
II: PLANNING DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS 1. Cottonwood Facility & Park update: Bill Linfield provided maps of proposed joint facility without extra multi-purpose field, due to South Maryland Creek Ranch¡¦s plans to provide 2 full size multi-purpose fields in 2014. Final design and site prep is planned for 2010, Public Works facility will be started in 2010, and Fire District plans to begin 2011. The bike path will circle the perimeter and is proposed to begin construction in 2010 also. 2. Review Parks, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan: Definitions and Standards pgs. 2-1 through 2-20: This section defines type of trails and standards of trails within Town boundaries as well as outside of boundaries. These standards should be referred to when planning trail sections or segments.
III: OLD BUSINESS 1. 2009 SPORT Winter Goals: a. Fishermen access: Don and Nathan continue to work on fishing map with input from Cutthroat Anglers, hope to have something by next meeting. b. Mini-Project: Angler Mtn. Signs: Michael continues to follow up on this. SPORT agreed to offered money to assist in sign purchase 2. 2009 Spring Goals: a. Visit open space as potential pocket park sites: Liz will follow up with members to set up date and time for site tour prior to June 18th meeting. b. Adopt-A-Trail recruit sponsors for BRT Segments 3 & 4: No update c. Fish stocking ¡V research: Research in progress.
IV: NEW BUSINESS / PRESENTATIONS: 1. Tammy Jamieson memorial ideas ¡V requesting SPORT¡¦s input: John commended Tammy for her efforts with the trail system and how far we¡¦ve come because of her. Several ideas were discussed, Joanne has asked for ideas to be email to her for further discussion. Don, Joanne, and Pat will work on this. 2. OTHER: John mentioned there is a County Weed Pull on 7/11 from 8am ¡V 1pm. Contact John if you have questions.
V: PARKS, TRAILS & OPEN SPACE PROJECTS ¡V REPORTS & UPDATE 1. Update on Blue River Trail Segment 4: Construction is underway!
